Power and Electric

Electric service is provided by Progress Energy, Randolph Electric Membership Corporation and Pee Dee Electric Membership Corporation. Each of these companies has staff available to assist in energy planning, audits, and service options.

Water and Sewer

The Montgomery County water system serves all five towns and most rural areas. The water filtration plant has a current treatment capacity of 6 million gallons per day, providing a full 3 million gallons of reserve to the county.

Wastewater treatment is provided by modern plants located in each of the five towns. Designated for expansion, the plants can more than double current treatment capacity in the future.

Gas Lines

Piedmont Natural Gas serves the Mount Gilead area of Montgomery County.

Waste and Recycling

Waste and recycling facilities are provided by Uwharrie Environmental Inc.

Telephone, Cable, and Fiberoptics

Telephone service is provided by Century Link and Randolph Telephone. High-speed internet is available through CenturyLink(DSL), Randolph Telephone and Time Warner Cable (Road Runner).
